Every great movement in history has had it's fanatics. These individuals are those that take things far outside the realm of reality in the name of their chosen cause. The SS did unspeakable things during WWII, The Japanese Did to China and Korea, and most of Asia unspeakable atrocities.
The United States of America commited genocide against Native Americans and committed the horrendous crime of slavery and forced relocation of the Africans and African American population. The rights of women had to be fought for, the rights of those born with more melanin in their skin and eye's had to be fought over. The rights of the common worker and the rights and freedoms of all our fellow countrymen had to be fought for. But everytime I feel that our country has taken a real step forward, I am ashamed of our ignorance of reality.
I am not sure what drives people's thoughts when they attain the mob mentality. I love my country, and the freedoms that we enjoy. I think there are many changes that need to be made, and that will eventually be made.
I believe that Gay Marriage will become a reality, but there are those that would kill me for saying that.
I am a believer and supporter of Dr Ron Paul, and fully endorse him for the officer of President of the United States of America.
Now having said that.
There are some people that have decided it was in their best interest to use his name, and that of his supporters to threaten the life of Glen Beck and his family. Nobody who cares about the rights that the constitution entails would curtain the personal freedom just over his stance on Ron Paul.
Threatening his family, that is the lowest thing that I have heard in a long time. I hope that these false patriots are found and turned over to the court. I hope they feel the shame of their actions for the rest of their lives. I doubt it, as most fanatics rarely repent. But there have been some that have, and that gives them some hope.
Glen Beck. If for some reason you are reading my lowly blog. I would like to apologize not on behalf of Ron Paul Supporters, as true supporters would not do as they did. But I want to apologize to you as an American.
There are people in this world who believe that the answer to everything is the big stick, but they seem to forget that on the end of the big stick would be the carrot. For those that believe as I do, and for those who have mothers like mine, you will know and remember this.
You get more flys with honey then vinegar.
I am writing as I usually do, because something in the world has shown me that not everyone is blind. I am a supporter of Ron Paul, and usually I speak of him. But today I wish to salute Chris Dodd for integrity rarely seen in today's politics.
Chris Dodd has promised to Filibuster the new Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. How and why does this affect you, allow me to shed some light on the subject.
Though ignored by the current administration, the current (not the temporary) FISA protects Americans from unlawful invasions of privacy. The right to privacy is protected by the Constitution of the United States of America and is not meant to be trampled on. The Bush administration has made it's mission to limit and step on this line of the Bill of Rights. Because if the president has his way, this is what will happen.
1. They can listen to your phone calls, read your emails, look at any pictures or files sent in email. (some of which might be private) If you think that this is improbable, think again. It's already happening to a limited degree.
2. Telecommunications companies that gave up your private information will suffer no punishment. They gave full access to your emails, phone conversations, Instant Messages, Pictures, Videos, Webcam Conversations.
Do you honestly want the government to invade your home at it's leasure? Do you want them to have the legal ability to monitor everything you ever do? I don't, and never will. It's a direct violation of our rights under the Bill or Rights in the Constitution.
Those who sacrifice Freedom for Security, will soon find that they have neither. If you don't know why to fear, watch V for Vendetta and then read this again.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security.
Benjamin Franklin
This rather short saying speaks volumes to generations and generations of freedom loving Americans.
Why oh why is it, that we seem so determined to forget the wisdom left to us by our founding fathers?
Privacy no longer can mean anonymity, says Donald Kerr, the principal deputy director of national intelligence. Instead, it should mean that government and businesses properly safeguard people's private communications and financial information.
Kerr said at an October intelligence conference in San Antonio that he finds concerns that the government may be listening in odd when people are "perfectly willing for a green-card holder at an (Internet service provider) who may or may have not have been an illegal entrant to the United States to handle their data."
He noted that government employees face up to five years in prison and $100,000 in fines if convicted of misusing private information.
The main focus that Mr. Kerr fails to address is why we should trust our government to safe guard our personal privacy? What if we don't want the government to know what we think all the time.
What if you are a democrat preparing to run for president against the republican Vice-President. What if he has taken to monitoring everything that goes on in your campaign. He need not even mention it in order to counter your every move.
If a government employee is ordered to collect and report information, then he would not be "misusing private information". The government collected all the phone records, conversations, and most likely internet traffic for the past few years. Without authorization by congress, in an unconstitutional manner, and without repent. They have a solution to that as well....Offer blanket immunity to all Telecom companies that violated your constitutional rights. They have violated the law at the express order of our government and rather then everyone being equal under the law....Everyone is equal except the government.
Freedom is priceless, the constitution protects this as long as we support and defend the constitution. I swore an oath when I joined the Marine Corps to defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. But how can I defend it against my own government......Only one way really. VOTE.
For the past 5 or 6 years, I have been dismayed by our governments moves to get rid of constitutional rights. By their slimy efforts to infringe on our right to privacy. The Supreme Court SHOULD be doing it's job and evaluate the constitutional law behind these efforts. But it seems to me like the bench has been stacked by political judges. They seem to take their orders from the white house anymore.
A small leak can sink a great ship.
Benjamin Franklin
The first leak in our great ship started with the Patriot Act. Congress has made half hearted efforts to repeal and adjust this "much needed invasion of our privacy", and the Supreme Farce has avoided the issue like the plague. The president and congress do not have the RIGHT, or the Authority to IGNORE the constitution. They are able to attempt to pass amendments to change it, but know better. ANY amendment to sacrifice our rights would result in them serving their last term, and perhaps impeachment from their state.
Warrentless Wire Tapping.
I have heard constant defenders of this program. But don't worry, we have the assurances of those that did the tapping, listening, recording, and report writing...That only a few have been listened to, and for only national security purposes. Let's evaluate how that can be interpreted.
If the president believes that it is in national securities interest to keep a political opponent from getting elected, then he could feasibly monitor, record, report, and examine all communications from within a political campaign. Then, when your every move is easily countered, you won't be elected.
What I am trying to point out is that it should be in the politicians best interest to halt this attack on our freedom. Freedom is not free, and i'm tired of having friends of mine fight abroad and yet watch what they are fighting for being lost at home. WE all swore an oath in the military to defend the constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. Yet we are not allowed to defend it at home.
Many people have their favorite founding father. Some like Jefferson, some like Adams. Everyone likes George Washington, but mine is Ben Franklin. For he best describes how to best protect the constitution.
Distrust and caution are the parents of security.
Benjamin Franklin
If you become complacent of efforts to usurp our values, rights, freedom, and beliefs since the founding of our great nation, you will loss all. Right now, you can't make a phone call without some computer recording your efforts. Mind you, I doubt that a person is listening to every conversation in America. But I'm sure it is recorded, so that a later date some nice intelligence analyst can read a transcript, listen to the conversation and pass it along if needed. If you don't care about our country, live a quiet life and bother nobody...Then it doesn't affect you. But for those that care, and try to get someone elected that will protect and restore the constitution, you risk having your every communication watched and recorded.
Do good to your friends to keep them, to your enemies to win them.
Benjamin Franklin
Not every conflict must be won with war. It seems like we carry a big stick, but no longer walk softly. What ever happened to good diplomacy. Our only efforts at this, and half hearted at that revolve around Israel. We were once a country that talked first without threat, tried to find common ground, and when all else fails...Marines goto Tripoli. We will not break, we will not bend, you will do what we say or we will bomb you seems to be todays order. Reminds me of why we broke away from England.
Half a truth is often a great lie.
Benjamin Franklin
I remember assurances that only a few phone conversations had been monitored. Then I learn about AT&T giving all the data you could ever want to the National Security Agency. Think about this for a second. Every phone conversation, internet email or IM, conveniently being forwarded to our top Intelligence Agency. Without Warrant, without permission. That seems to me like they tried to feed us a half truth to cover a great lie.
He that's secure is not safe.
Benjamin Franklin
I think that perhaps my greatest fear isn't what happens in the next 5 years or so. But I fear that our freedoms will be eroded to the point that my children or grandchildren will have to fear disappearing if they say the wrong thing. All it would take is an new branch of the government, or perhaps an existing branch. Perhaps a new part of the Department of Homeland Security. Maybe it would be called the Department of Family Values and Societies Peace. Once they have permission to do whatever they want without warrant, nothing prevents them from being removed from society. Our country's values are too valuable to not be protected, our freedom is our sacred trust. Too many have fought and died to protect it for us to throw it away now.
How few there are who have courage enough to own their faults, or resolution enough to mend them.
Benjamin Franklin
We've identified some of our faults, and there are not many ways that I see to fix them. There is only one presidential candidate that seems to have the will and desire to restore our constitutional rights and put us back on the path to freedom. That is Congressman Ron Paul of Texas. I have NEVER been a republican, nor do I agree with all of his views. But the greatest danger I see revolves around our inherent freedom that is being slowly but surely removed. Some will say that religion is important, some will argue that it's right to life or gay marriage. But for me, all of these can be swept under the rug if our inherent freedom is dissolved.
In the affairs of this world, men are saved not by faith, but by the want of it.
Benjamin Franklin
Faith is a wonderful thing, but it is not everything. Today's politician's pretend to be religious and faithful, but they are faithful to only one thing...Themselves. Few politicians have been seen to always stick to their beliefs regardless of public opinion. Jimmy Carter was one such, and a faithful and religious man. He has shown that after leaving office you can accomplish great things by wanting to do good.
Congressman Paul has never once voted against his conscience or the constitution. I didn't believe it at first, but after some research I was surprised by how many times he was the ONLY no vote. It is amazing that so few regard the rules and articles of the constitution to the degree that they would vote against a popular but unconstitutional bill.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security.
Benjamin Franklin
I am not the best writer around, but this is a subject that I feel quite strongly about. Personally, I am ashamed that we have fallen so far. I remember reading the Bill Of Rights in school, and remembering that none of them would ever be changed and how great that is. Now, rather then change, they ignore. Rather then explain why and face the consequences, we much change our definition to better suit their purposes.
When we seceded from the tyranny of England in 1776, we took a risk. We sacrificed security for freedom, our newly formed country bled during the revolutionary war to give us the freedom we enjoyed for all those years. They fought and died to give us the Country and Constitution that we have today. To see it slipping dishonors the memory of all those that died at Valley Forge, Lexington, Concord, and more.
For those that dishonor those that have fought and died for our country, shame. You dishonor our founding fathers, our country, our constitution, and the men that died to protect those.
It is a bitter taste to see this happen in my lifetime.

My 4th Blog on a testy issue.
Gun Control.
Virgina Tech had a horrible day, a lone gunman shot and killed over 30 people before killing himself. From this, as from all such attacks springs forth the debate on banning guns.
But perhaps you should consider a few facts, and I place the blame on the college for what happened.
1. If I had a gun in my class, the shooter would be dead before killing 30 people.
2. Had the college had a standing security staff, there wouldn't have been an issue. Why do malls, banks, and other important buildings have security guards but not colleges. Are you saying that a gathering of several thousand people everyday isn't a terrorist target, let along a target for madmen bent on death?
3. If several of the teachers had been trained in gun use and safety, and kept a concealed firearm....How many lives would have been saved. How many times does this have to happen before we get smart and do something that actually will help.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people. If you had taken his guns away, he would have just built a bomb or something. He was bent on killing, he makes that clear. Everyone knows that it's easy to make a bomb or mix chemicals together to kill people. If it wasn't easy, it wouldn't be used so often.
If someone robs your house and is bent on murdering your entire family, how do you protect yourself? The police won't be there before he has time to kill everyone you love and care about. Can their response time be adjusted enough to save your family....Not possible.
If someone robs my house, the question is how I will get the stain out of the carpet. But my family will be safe.
Our borders are too open, our land too vast to cut off the supply of illegal guns. They can't cut off the supply of illegal guns in Ireland...Which is a small ass island. What makes you think it's possible in the USA?
Rather then making a mistake that future generations will regret, we should impliment safety measures that will work. So I will lay out my suggestion for you.
1. A 6-member security detachment with 9 mm handguns. Trained and drilled on a regular basis, prior military service prefered.
2. At least 2 professors at any given time armed with concealed hand guns. With proper training, drills, and have nobody know who those two are.
3. Offer discounted tutition for members of the military that attend if they are willing to secretly carry a concealed firearm. They must be physically and mentally able to handle the pressure and stress of an emergency situation. They must be mature individuels.
Now, say someone flips out....Get's a hand gun and goes to shoot up the school. At the first gunshot, several things will happen.
1. Security detachment starts reacting - moves in on the shots.
2. If present, armed teacher engages target - unless he was the first target.
3. If teacher is down, select few students take out shooter. Surprises class, but they all LIVE.
Rather then argue and moan, I have laid out an actual option to save lives. I would welcome hearing your ideas.

My Third Blog in my quest to point out injustice.
A marriage is an interpersonal relationship with governmental, social, or religious recognition, usually intimate and sexual, and often created as a contract. The most frequently occurring form of marriage unites a man and a woman as husband and wife. Beginning in 2001, the legal concept of marriage has been expanded to include same-sex marriage in some jurisdictions.
A marriage is often declared by a wedding ceremony, which may be performed by a religious officiator, through a similar government-sanctioned secular officiator, or (in weddings that have no church or state affiliation) by a trusted friend of the wedding participants. The act of marriage usually creates obligations between the individuals involved, and in many societies, their extended families.
The Debate rages on in regards to same sex marriage, so I thought that I would take a crack at one of the issues currently deviding our nation. I hear the arguments all the time, (don't call it marriage, civil unions are ok, marriage has always been between a man and a woman.) Sadly, that last one is false.
Since 2001, five nations have made same-sex marriage legal, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Canada, and South Africa. Israel recognizes same-sex marriages from other jurisdictions. In the United States, Massachusetts is the only state to recognize same-sex marriage under the name marriage.
Civil unions are a separate form of legal union open to couples of the same sex, and they are currently recognized in 24 out of 193 countries worldwide and in some U.S. states. Many U.S. states have adopted referendums or laws that generally restrict marriage recognition to heterosexual couples. Federally, the U.S. Senate has considered, and failed to pass, a Federal Marriage Amendment.
To those that firmly believe that gay marriage is bad and will never be allowed. Sorry to burst your bubble, but pandora's box has been opened. Eventually same-sex marriage will be federally approved, it is only a matter of time. I would like to take the time however, to explain how and why I feel that it should be allowed. As well as state a manner in which you can't use religion as a reason for descrimination.
I have heard people descibe marriage as a thing too sacred to be used by two men or two women. They state that the bible doesn't allow for it. Which I find amusing since you don't need a priest or religion to get married. A Justice of the Peace can marry two people, without any mention of religion. I myself am an aethiest, and thus don't believe in any form of higher power. By such, if two men get married by a judge. How is it infringing on religion?
By the same token, I believe it is wrong to even consider forcing gay marriage on religions. As a religious marriage is something sacred to them and DOESN'T allow same sex marriage. So as long as religion is left by the side lines, the entire religious right has no argument worthy of the name.
Civil Unions are often stated as a "safe" alternitive to calling it marriage. Problem is that it's a form of discrimination against those that want to be husband/husband. They want to be "married", and saying that they are too dirty to bear the title of married is in my opinion wrong.
Finally, I firmly believe that same-sex marriage will become a wide spread reality. I just can't grasp how people can't accept that fact and welcome it into society. Let's break down the barriers of hate that we build, people put up walls of hate and violence ofter ensues. Hate never helps, it only clouds your ability to reason. It clouds your actions and thoughts, and often causes actions that disgust others.
IF I ever have one of my friends funerals protested by people holding signs that say "god hates fags". I will be in jail that night, as there will be a physical altercation.
Yes, I am talking about the Westboro Baptist Church and it's opinion that soldiers dying in iraq is due to gods hatred of homosexuals. Their hate tarnishes the dignity of honorable men and women.
Before you condemn and hate. Look at yourself, look at how the country was 30 years ago and the hate that ensued. Look 100 years ago and the rights of women then. Gay rights are today's human rights. America has come a long way, but still has a long way to go. Someday, people will be studying the 20th and early 21st century and it's treatment of gays the same we study the civil rights movement or the slavery period.
